There has been some suggestion that patients who suffer from anxiety or depression prior to LASIK surgery are not good candidates for the procedure. While the risk of complications from the surgery is very predictable, but when they occur there are patients who seem to become depressed, following the deterioration of vision due to an unexpected complication. This is a serious enough specially when the potential LASIK patient is suffering from a severe depression without treatment.

We all know that LASIK surgery is a procedure that improves quality of life, but we also know that depression could deteriorates the quality of life of any individual. Having said that, if you are one of those who believe that you can reduce depression by improving your quality of live with LASIK surgery, let me tell you right now that you are wrong, especially if you are suffering of sever depression. Believe me I have seen many cases where everything when perfect, but for some reason depressive people has different perception of things;

What seems to be discomfort for everybody, is pain for them.

What seems to be great vision for everybody, is only okay for them.

What seems to be a 15 minutes surgery for everybody, is more than an hour for them.

So now you get it? In most cases is nothing to do with the performance or the outcomes of the procedure, it is something that goes beyond that, called (depression), without mentioning the serious consequences that can occur if something goes wrong.

That is why doctors who perform LASIK have difficulty agreeing on whether patients who appear to develop depression following LASIK surgery were actually depressed before the procedure. In any case, some providers are now saying that because of the high rate of depression following serious LASIK complications, potential candidates for LASIK should be screened for depression and anxiety prior to receiving the operation, in order to prevent.

So now that you have a sense of knowledge about LASIK surgery & depression, you can determinate whether or not is a good option to discuss with your primary care physician before consulting an LASIK surgeon.

LASIK marketing used to be very easy, but now is getting quite “complex” and very competitive as Internet evolves and expands. Having said that, have you noticed that every single media channel is moving into the WEB? Radio Stations, Cable TV, Mobile devices, Game consoles, Tablet PCs, Stores, Directories, Libraries you name it. Without question the Internet has become one of the most widely-used communication media, therefore it is where you have to focus your LASIK marketing for 2012 and the years to come.

In this article I will show why Internet marketing for LASIK procedure is a (MUST) these days for any practitioner. In addition we will share interesting data that could be very beneficial if you are considering to do it yourself. Finally we will analyze the difference between conservative LASIK marketing vs no conservative.

Lets begin with some statistics and information of the WEB

<img class="aligncenter" title="Stats" src="http://lasik-secrets.com/images/stats3.jpg" alt="LASIK marketing"width="640" height="400" />

Now that we’ve some idea of the numbers of the WEB, we have to focus our attention on something very important for any successful LASIK marketing campaign (conversion rate). But in order to understand better this concept, we need to know what is our current ranking in the Search Engine, I tell you why; (Only if you rank in the first page of the major Search Engines such as; (Google, Bing or Yahoo) you have 5% chance to have a potential patient at front of your practice’s door. Obviously this percentage could increase depending upon the position of your listing in this first page. We will get there in just a moment!

Something that you should consider for an optimal Internet LASIK marketing campaign

Firstly I want to share some information about CTR (click through rate) and how users’ behave, this will give you a sense of orientation in terms of how search engine works and how you should focus your LASIK marketing strategy with search engines.

The following example shows 603,000 results based on the keywords (LASIK surgery in Delaware) with Google search engine. In the image below you can see that paid listings is located on top of the results as well as in the right sidebar with orange color, in the other hand, the organic result are highlighted with green color. Before we get into the percentages keep in mind this (The position of your business is governed by an algorithm and not by luck). Having said that, it is important to mention that algorithms are constantly changing, and perhaps if you practice search engine optimization on your website, you should consider to keep track of it once in a while if you want to be ranking well.

Jumping into the percentages!

These percentages were the results of a study that was done a few years ago when (click path technology) was introduced into computer science. Now this study revealed that 25% to 30% of the searchers are clicking on the paid listing (orange zone) and 70% to 75% click the organic results (green zone). That is why click path should be considered an important aspect of Internet marketing, because it provides details of visitor behavior. Now this technology can be well used in order to improve our website and online visibility by organizing content and layout.

Now that you have some of the facts of internet marketing, lets move on to analyze the organic area (green zone) for better understanding.

In the green zone we have very interesting information, which can give you a sense of why is so important to be in first page of search engines, no to mention that it is absolutely free. Having said that, lets take a look at the click rates along with the time that users spend with each one of them!

LASIK Marketing effort and social media

Well now that we have covered the importance of ranking well with search engine, let’s jump into something no less important which is (Social Media).

Social media is the perfect tool in order to spread the word of your business, however, this marketing channel depends purely upon other users, therefore the goal here is to capture their attention in order to make them share your information without asking. Sounds a very easy task, and to be quite honest with you (it is). But when you have a conservative LASIK marketing with lack of creativity unfortunately it does not work, period.

So how can we make Social Media work for us? It is simple; You can have full potential of this Free channel when you have something special, unique, something that many webmasters would consider as (viral information), something that you can not find anywhere else more than in your site. Now, it is important to mention that you don’t need to have incredible material in order to be “amazing” in the crowd. The most effective social media channels for LASIK Marketing are: Facebook and Twitter.

But out of the social media world we have one website that does not go unnoticed by major LASIK companies which is Yahoo Answer, where a lot of “potential patients” asking for reference of practitioners.

The bottom line of this LASIK Marketing article

Well I know for sure that many marketers have doubts about investing in advertisement these days with this economy, however, if you are one of them I can tell you right now that you are losing time and perhaps patients. If you don’t have optimal results “today” with your current LASIK marketing campaign, I feel very confident to tell you that it is because you are spending money where you are not supposed to.

Anyways, I hope this information helps practitioners to guide their LASIK marketing for 2012 and the years to come. If any of you need my advice with your LASIK marketing campaign, I would be more than happy to give you a FREE consultation via Skype.

Regards

While the demand of this particular eye surgery is still alive and expanding all over the world, there is a minority of individuals who are not quite convinced whether the procedure is safe or not. Not to mention those who turn against this procedure as a result of an unfortunate experience. But over the time I have noticed that while many sources are providing information about potential LASIK complications that could appear after the procedure, such as; night vision problems, dry eyes, infection among many others, there is nobody who documents information about LASIK complications that may occur while the procedure is being performed. Well, before I explain a little more about this concept we need to clarify something important here! LASIK complications can be manifested in different aspects, which are; clinical and technological. Having said that, when a technological malfunction appears does not necessarily mean that it will be reflected directly in the clinical outcomes, however, technological complications are not exempt from the entire procedure which has been a reality for many practitioners. Considering that most of the time these malfunctions are manifested while the surgeon is performing, obviously it can not be taken lightly, that is why all the entities that offer this service are more than likely very rigorous with proper maintenance, although, sometimes malfunctions can go “beyond that”, as we shall see in the video below.

LASIK Complications video (Technological aspect)

The following video was uploaded on YouTube back in 2009 and it has been unnoticed by English-speaking community because was uploaded in Spanish from Colombia, but this is the perfect scenario which demonstrates and affirms that LASIK complications can also be manifested by a malfunction of the technology.

Interpretation of the video (LASIK complications technological aspect)

Evidently, in this video we can see the flap was made in a place that was not predicted by the surgeon, in fact, you just have witnessed a malfunction of the microkeratome because the eye ball of the patient moves while suction occurs and the blade try to create the flap. And so, as you can see LASIK complications are not related only with the clinical outcomes. In other words, patients should know that practitioners are also exposed to experience a technical malfunction while he/she is performing this surgery, which in some cases are not directly reflected in the outcomes.

In this particular mechanical complication case, we have three possible reasons;

1 – Problems with the suction

2 – Problems with the blade

3 – “Improper setting of cutting speed”

But, we can not discard the possibility of;

Lack of experience

Regardless, most of the LASIK complications that consumers know today are no more than clinical, but behind the scenes of LASIK industry the are many others that have not been revealed yet. If you need additional details about risks and potential LASIK complications, please do not hesitate to click in the previous (LASIK complications) link.

Bottom line of this LASIK complications article.

I know that many professionals maybe hate to see this kind of material on the WEB, but please do not misunderstand the main idea, which is no more than help practitioner perspective with exclusive material in order to complement the literature of the subject. No to mention or I should say more importantly! to advice potential candidates that some times LASIK complications can go beyond the experience and skills of any practitioner.

Yes, Free LASIK consultation could be done from your home now! Let me explain; the interest about LASIK vision correction or I should say about LASIK eye surgery still alive by many potential candidates in the U.S, however, the economy circumstances that we are facing today, it may show the opposite to the eyes of practitioners, but the true is that these challenging times are adding no more than salt and pepper to the natural stage of anxiety or fear that many patients could experience previously to the surgery, although the interest still there!

While the vast majority of interested are taking a conservative positions spending money, there is a minority who are taking advantage of excellent opportunities, In fact, I have to admit that consumers have the handle of the pan at this time and perhaps they could even settle better price if they want.

Regardless, in this billionaire industry we can see many good things, like; doctors giving away Free LASIK procedures to those who cannot afford it, but also bad things, like; selfishness in the industry due to its lucrative profits, nothing to be surprised because today if a potential candidate walk into the office of a practitioner for a LASIK consultation, it is more than likely that they would leave that office convinced that they would have the best treatment ever. Please don’t get me wrong, (PATIENTS ALWAYS HAVE THE BEST TREATMENT FOR SURE) but, the best treatment according to that particular practice which could be limited by the lack of technology and even experience, something that are considerably important in order to have superior outcomes these days.

Free LASIK consultation!

So having said all these facts, we have taken a new initiative to provide Free LASIK consultation without being influenced by any type of brand, entity or doctor. This initiative is exclusively oriented to guide consumers in an effort to help them with appropiate information and knowledge. A knowledge that all consumers should have previous to any LASIK consultation, including; Benefits, Risks, Precautions, Technology, Insurances coverage among others.

Broadcasting LASIK consultation (live!)

But this project it does not end here because LASIK-Secrets.com is also opening a live video Channel that will be available to all those who are interested on LASIK surgery, starting from October 3, 2011. If you want to participate wit this exclusive feature, please submit your questions via e-mail.

Important Note: Considering that most of the time LASIK consultation is done by counselors first and then by doctors, it is important to mention that these live videos, as well as the LASIK consultation via Skype, would be broadcasting by Frans Rehl (a former ophthalmology counselor and administrator).

LASIK New York is one of the terms that it have been raising the flag on the Internet lately, even though the economy remains with a low profile, the term has been sought for more than 22000 times in the last 30 days, which indicates that LASIK service providers seem to have a high demand these days. But we should not be surprised because after all New York is one of the most competitive state on the LASIK industry.

Understanding the term (LASIK New York) and its impact on the Internet.

It is important to mention that (LASIK New York is only a term), that it sounds kind of computerized, but this is the way that many individuals are currently using in order to find LASIK service providers in the state of New York.

This short phrase’s behavior is not something new, in fact it is getting quite popular these days, as you can see very often with cellphone texting, emails among others, however, it makes me wonder if we are evolving in this way, are we aware that we are exposing ourselves to experience certain levels of atrophy with our verbal communication skills?

Anyways, in this particular case many individuals that are considering LASIK in New York, are actually searching with the term LASIK New York rather that LASIK in New York. Saving some time typing I guess. In the other hand I found another individuals that type with (+) symbol in between words, for instance: LASIK+New+York so I start researching about these tendencies to see what is going on with our ways of typing and eventually share this article with all of you. Surprisingly after a week of research I did not have enough material to start this article, but after spending an afternoon with my good friends, this conversation came out along with its answer. The true with this bizarre way of typing is due to a common experience, which are; (saving time and disappointment with search engine results), in fact according to a few of them, they do no only save time but also in order to have better relevance with what they are looking for, and apparently it works just fine for them.

So now that we have a few thing clear, allow me to move on with this interesting subject. You see, the term LASIK New York not only captures the attention of many website owners in the U.S. but also from people out of the Sates who make their living from advertising (Pay Per Click). This phenomenon is possible thanks to Google AdSense that brought a all new level of global marketing opportunities to the industry, and so today many webmasters who make their living from Google AdSense are constantly monitoring the Internet with its high profit terms in order to make extra income, including; with the term LASIK New York.

Why people search (LASIK New York)

Now, most people who type the term LASIK New York on search engines are actually looking for LASIK surgeons in New York state, and so if you are one of them, take a look to our exclusive Directory (LASIK New York).

Statement!

Our data is collected from many sources in several countries, including; more popular search engines and Pay-Per-Click advertising. In addition, this data is also an analysis of traffic logs, indirectly including keyword searches from most of the major engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing.

If you are interested on our project please do not hesitate to contact us!

But I guess the words run very fast on the Internet community because every time that we ask to these patients from where they are getting this information, each one of them point Internet as a reference channel of it. And so, we started our own research to find out more about this “Blue Cross LASIK plan”, specially because (we) as a LASIK services provider would like to be on top of everything, specially if there are new opportunities to expand our reference.

Blue Cross LASIK Plan & Network providers

According to Blue Cross Blue Shield Statement, all members who are participating with this Insurance company are eligible to use this “plan”, however, in our research we found out that those who are interested are limited to certain details (physicians and facilities), in other words potential LASIK candidates would be referred based on their location, in addition the physician would be designated as long as he/she are participating with LCA-Vision Network.

Blue Cross LASIK Plan facts

There is no much to say about this information (for patients’ perspective), because the true is that (Blue Cross LASIK plan) it actually a 15% savings off the retail price, in other words it is no more than a discount. In addition, potential beneficiaries should be aware that this plan is only limited to the exclusivity of LCA-Vision Network, in other words (LASIKPlus facilities), and so as you can imagine it is not available in every corner of the country.

Although we have clarified a little more about “Blue Cross LASIK plan” and how it actually works, I am sure that many people are a little disappointed considering the amount of money that is deducted from our pay check in order to have a decent medical insurance plan these days! Anyways, we have to look at the bright side of the story because 15% discount is better than nothing after all, however, whether you are member of this insurance provider or not, there are other alternatives to consider that could be even more beneficial than “Blue Cross LASIK plan”, in fact some of these entities provide up to a 30% discount without even mention medical insurance.
