Quality Vision after LASIK Surgery Is one of the most common complains when the patient is not satisfied with the outcome.
Let’s take a moment here, to be very precise of what is happening with quality vision after LASIK surgery.
Most LASIK Surgeons will agree that technology matters, because outcome are better with latest technology, obviously the doctors who do not have the latest tech, will say that is not true. We wonder how they can tell, if they have not used? While those who are enjoying it, already have experience with the above tech.
The true is that most patients who are interested on LASIK surgery, they are not aware about the kind of Technology the doctor will perform the surgery, and we believe that the simple reason is because that information is very neither exclusive, nor easy to find or they have no idea where to find it. But over the years, people want to know more details about LASIK surgery, particularly because they have heard many bad rumors, precautions in the news and even websites are online to prevent more tragedies, according to them. But watching these videos and websites, we concluded that many of them, give a wrong message to the patient and the information is distorted, which in the end it does, not do more than create fear and distrust.
But let’s talk about quality vision or 20/20 vision.
20/20 vision is more than number or more than you can read at 20 feet a letter that most human beings should be able to read at 20 feet.
20/20 means quality vision means sharp and clear vision, and as you know 20/20 is part of a metric vision scale. In this scale we can find 20/10 , 20/15 , 20/20 , 20/25 and so on, up to count fingers, but did you know that in your chart, doctors must complete with accurate information in order to give the right treatment or diagnosis, so maybe they can tell you that after surgery your vision is 20/20, because it is, but the all true is that in your chart maybe goes (20/20 -1)</a></strong> for instance. What is that means? that’s mean that you have a misread in one of the letters of the 20/20 vision line. Most common misread are on C, G, O, E, B, F, P
Now most patients who are complain about loss quality vision after LASIK surgery, compare theirs previews quality vision with glasses or contact vs. quality vision after LASIK surgery, instead of comparing before LASIK surgery quality vision and after LASIK surgery quality vision, and both with out glasses.
We strongly believe that loss vision quality most of the time is the result of an inappropriate Excimer laser calibration. Now inappropriate calibration shows aberration result in a device called Lensmeter.
Above the video we explain everything in regard it, and we also show what the Lensmeter shows under a correct and incorrect calibration.
Video Interpretation: First of all, is a device connected to the Laser machine with a flat surface, this device will allow the technologist to put a square plastic in order to fire the Laser, but before the technologist fire the Laser, he/she has to make sure that the surface is on level. Once the surface is level, then he/she proceed to the square plastic, wish is in the same surface, and try to align the two light lines and make them one. Then he/she can precede and fire the Laser. As soon as the laser finish with the first shooting, the technologist can proceed to remove the plastic and read it with a device called Lensmeter, how accurate was the shot, then base on what the Lensmeter interpret, the technologist must to introduce the information to the computer in the Laser machine, in order to tell the machine how to make the arrangements for accurate shooting, this process needs to be repeated as many time is necessary in order to have a accurate shot. All these work reduce the risk involve in surgery plus add more chances for a successful LASIK surgery as well good outcome.
20/20 vision with aberrations, and 20/20 with out aberrations.
